Don’t Be Scammed

Unfortunately, over the years the air duct cleaning industry has had bad players who take advantage of homeowners using scams and scare tactics. Watch out for the following schemes.

  • Companies offering a free mold test. Mold tests are not free. They must be sent to a lab and require at least both an indoor and outdoor mold level test to verify if there is a problem.
  • You hire a company to clean your air ducts, and they claim to find mold. They pressure you to remediate it at that moment at a huge price increase to you because it is so dangerous. At Lowe’s Air, if we ever find mold in the ductwork, we immediately stop the service and direct you to call a mold remediation expert to handle the problem.
  • You receive coupons or flyers from a company offering very low pricing to clean the system. They will either do a poor job or they will use the bait and switch tactic to upsell you to more expensive services.

How to Find a Reputable Company

First, check with the Better Business Bureau to research the company you are considering.

Look at a company’s online reviews and read several of them.

Ask for personal references from those who live around you.

Check their policies. We use flat rate pricing, provide before and after pictures with our duct camera, and offer a 100% money back guarantee.
